Local Crematorium and Cemetery COVID 19 Restriction
Update as at 12 noon 25th March 2022
As you can appreciate this is subject to change.
we are doing our very best to keep this site as up-to-date as possible.
If you are still unsure as to what to do, please PHONE US ON 01843 592720
We thank you in advance for your understanding.
We need to ascertain the cause of Death as soon as possible and do not mean to be insensitive.
At present the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCD) is automatically scanned and emailed to the Registrar at registeroffice@kent.gov.uk with next of kin details. This is usually done within 3 days of the death.
It is for the Executor/Next of Kin to book a face to face appointment with the Registrar. These take place at local libraries. Please go to our ‘What to do when a Death Occurs’ page and scroll down to ‘Registration’ in purple text. You can book the appointment by using the phone number or link provided. Please let us know when you have made this appointment as ideally, we would like to see you after this to complete the Funeral arrangements.
The Registrar will then give you the relevant forms and certificates needed to finalise the Funeral arrangements.
We are sure you would appreciate that if you have Covid-19 symptoms, we would prefer you to wear a mask in our front office or, if not possible, we could make arrangements over the telephone.
We would still prefer only up to 3 members of the public in our Front office at a time.
Hand sanitizer is there to use, if you wish.
At Thanet Crematorium, please DO NOT wait on the Bandstand before you attend the Funeral as this is the way out for the mourners of the previous Service.
Hand sanitiser will be available on entry if you wish to use it.
Other Crematoria may have different rules.
If you are showing any Covid 19 symptoms, the guidelines are that you stay at home and watch via the streaming service.
Web Streaming is available.
The Service will stay live and can be viewed for the next 7 days.
Limits for people attending Burials in Ramsgate & Margate Cemeteries have been lifted.
Please phone us for guidance as both Chapels are small.
Interments and scattering of Cremated Remains are now going ahead, witnessed or unwitnessed.
