Local Crematorium and Cemetery COVID 19 Restriction
Update as at 1 pm 24th September 2020
As you can appreciate this is changing almost daily and we are doing our very best
to keep this site as up-to-date as possible.
If you are still unsure as to what to do please ring
We thank you in advance for your understanding.
At present the Cause of Death Certificate (MCCD) is automatically scanned and emailed to the Registrar at email@example.com with next of kin details.
A Registrar will then contact that person, usually no earlier than three days after receiving this email,
to confirm the necessary information to enable the registration to be completed.
The Registrar will then scan and email on the relevant forms and certificates to the appropriate place.
.At this time we ask that only 2 members of the public are allowed in our Front office to discuss matters. We and they must wear a face mask and their temperature will be checked on entry.
We need to ascertain the cause of Death as soon as possible and do not mean to be insensitive.
If the death is a confirmed case of COVID 19, EVERYONE who lived in the property with the deceased must be in 14 day isolation.
If you attend here under that circumstance we would ask you to leave and go home immediately and all arrangements will be made over the telephone.
We can make arrangements in our front office or, if preferred or necessary, over the telephone and arrange for the signing of the forms at a time convenient to you.
Under the current N.A.F.D. & SAIF guidelines we are now able to offer Limousines, but under certain restrictions, which we will discuss with you at the appropriate time.
Thanet Crematorium has advised they can accept (as of 14th September 2020 up to 24 people inside the Chapel) with no one outside. The outside speakers will no longer be in use.
Everyone must wear a face mask unless they are unable to for medical reasons.
On entering the Chapel (which is wiped down after each Service) people will be asked to take off any gloves and be given hand sanitizer.
Please do not replace your gloves after sanitizing. Every second pew has been cordoned off to help with the distancing.
Other Crematoria may have different rules.
If you are showing any Covid 19 symptoms, the guidelines are that you stay at home and watch via the streaming service.
Web Streaming is available.
Demand for this is high and in some cases buffering does occur.
Using the same link, the Service will stay live and can be viewed for the next 7 days.
Thanet Crematorium have reduced the fee for this service.
As of 14th September 2020, 12 people can attend a Service in Ramsgate Cemetery Chapel and 7 people in Margate Cemetery Chapel.
Thanet Crematorium & Cemeteries Office have advised us that the family can then be accompanied after the Service at the graveside to make a maximum of 15 people.
These people should not be showing any Coronavirus symptoms.
Social distancing is in place.
Anyone attending a Service is asked to wait in their car until they see the Hearse arriving.
Sadly you are asked NOT to touch the Coffin at any time.
Interments and scattering of Cremated Remains are now going ahead, witnessed or unwitnessed.
Thanet Crematorium have advised us that the maximum number who can attend an Ashes Interment is 15.
Please be assured that we will look after your loved one with the same respect, dignity and care as in the past.
